Advice Needed: Not Sure How to Progress Plot or how to streamline story

As the title suggests. I’ve been running a game for over a year now and, after a short break for the holidays, just had my first session of the new year. I had a sort of dungeon crawl through sewers into the city they need to get into planned, but felt like I lost momentum and track of pacing and we didn’t get to finish it. I also have a lot of plot threads pointing in different directions on the map as well as a session timer to rendezvous with important figures in my game to set up for the arc finale dungeon crawl but just feeling my plot is aimless. What should I do? Thank you all

I’m not saying this is exactly what you are going through, but in the campaign I’m in I wanted their to be lots of intrigue, and mystery, with lots of different story threads. However, I found that me and my group had trouble with focusing enough on one at a time. Which lead to us losing momentum. So I ended up putting in not a railroad per se, but more like bumpers at a bowling alley. Things that could take their current momentum, and use it to redirect them towards the goal. Everything they did I tried to give either a clue or incentive to go to the next spot quickly.

What are the villains doing? Progress their goals and put the pressure on the PCs to respond. That should prioritise what leads to follow next
