Crown and Skull Questions - Style or Missed Answers?

Just ordered both available volumes and I have to say I am excited to try this game out with my table. This seems like the perfect mix of Cairn simplicity and D20 crunchy action that I have been looking for.

I have a few questions for the GMs of C&S that lurk here. I will totally understand if the answers for all of these are just “play it your way and be consistent”, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t missing an obvious answer in the texts or obscuring an answer with an old D20 assumption.

Situation 1 - a 56 point character loses his 6 pt axe over a waterfall in the course of an escape. Is this character now:

a - 50/56 pts, with 6 pts to “re-spend” when resting? (the punishment of the loss is the temporary loss of access to those points)

b - now a 50 pt character. The 6 points are lost forever and have to be earned again as normal.

Situation 2 - The characters kill several frog champions in a pitched battle. After their victory, great care is taken to strip the champions of all their valuable froggish gear and take it back to town to sell. What happens to all the “points” worth of earnings this creates? Are they instantly 100 point characters?

Thanks for your advice/thoughts! Very interested to see what the intended course of action (if any) for these situations would be.

I’m pretty generous with hero points (I play with my kids), BUT…

Lost equipment is lost points. What I’ve done mostly is have an end of session “tribunal” where we talk about big moments, highlights, best roleplay, whatever and then dole out points for these things. Takes the sting out of the lost equipment and ends us on a high note of feel goods. The kicker with this is that we aren’t always in a place to spend those earned points. I run it that spending points, even in skill improvements, require safety/trainers, so no random “level ups” in the field unless they happen upon a trainer, armorer, etc.

As for found/salvaged equipment… basically thats a no-go. Sure, some cool and useful stuff is out there to be found and the occasional recovered “Frog Spear of King Hop’n Plop” are out there, but for the majority of the time all found weapons are junked. I have ran a couple of times allowing the weapons to be collected and sold as “scrap” in town, but they were so devalued that it wasn’t worth the hassle. Like 10 weapons for 1 point type of thing simply because the kids thought they should be worth “at least something”.
